Miramar Air Show

Friday-Sunday, 9/30-10/2, MCAS Miramar

The annual Miramar Air Show (ONLY 5 mi east of campus!) is an epic opportunity to see some beautiful aircraft in action, for free!

AIAA @ UCSD members hosted, helped or participated in following local educational events and volunteering opportunities…

Enspire

Volunteer and inspire middle school students to become leaders in the fields of science and engineering tomorrow. AIAA members have hosted tables of DIY engineering projects such as bottle rockets as well as served as team leaders on tour of engineering facilities on campus.

Junkyard Derby

Build a derby car out of junk and race it down against other teams of engineers, students and staff down Peterson hill.

Space Day hosted by San Diego Air & Space Museum

Teach kids about space, build toy rockets, hop on the simulator for a space flight, and even meet an astronaut!

Field trips

AIAA has hosted and coordinated field trips to JPL in Pasadena, Edwards AFB, Palomar Observatory as well as tours of local engineering companies and agencies including Northrop Grumman and NAVAIR.
